A real honker

Here’s a little treat for you! These two catfish were caught on the Potomac river by my brother Mike and his son Andrew. Now you wanna’ talk about putin’ a little something in the freezer for a later date using the vacuum seal machine.

Now these two fish were 50 and 55 lbs. respectively. The first one is of Andrew holding his 50 pounder. The second one is Mike holding the 55 pounder.  Now these two fish were caught within 5 minutes of each other in the same honey hole in November.

Please Don’t Feed the Bears!

Good morning to all you guys this morning! Welcome back once again to, Ridin’ Out the Recession. Thank you all so much for coming.

You already know that in all honesty in this part of our column I like to cut up and try to make you guys laugh a little, right? Well, I feel personally, that laughter adds years to your life, and I believe that to be very true. I enjoy a good laugh, and absolutely love making somebody else laugh. To me, there are very few things more satisfying than simply that.

But in the last few days we’ve gotten several comments, two of which have stood out to Deb and I, both being in regards to our children today. Well, Deb’s all over those, and this got me to thinking as well, not only of our children, but basically our Nation as a whole.

Mother-in-laws

Welcome back to Miz Judi’s Kitchen. I hope all are doing well today. Thank you for coming back to visit with us once again.

I would like to take a few moments of your time today to talk about mother in-laws .
Now I, like you, have heard many stories about how bad they. I had a friend of mine who always said, “I wish my Mother in-law would mind her own business, and quit telling me how she does things!

I must admit, that I have the most kind and loving mother in-law you will ever meet, and anyone that knows her will tell you the same thing. A lot of it I think, is simply from getting Dub out of her house for her!

Fried Green Tomatoes:

I went down earlier and Deb was watching T.V. waiting on Cheyenne to “do her thing” outside and come back in. I sat down and watched some of the movie “Fried Green Tomatoes,” and thought, it’s an omen! I’m supposed to tell ‘em how to fry green tomatoes!

Omen or not…I love them! It’s a very simple recipe, but really a good dish.

You do squash and eggplant the same way.

I have written you before and I think the two of you are awesome. You sound like me. I just moved from south Fl. to Keystone Heights,  Clay county, on ten acres and I’m trying to learn everything, People think I’m a nut job, so be it.  Most of the world including my own grown children who have children are unaware or are just have their heads in the sand, and call me a wacko.

Planting gardens, videos for Coverin the bases

Good morning everyone and welcome back once more to the Coverin’ the Bases section of Ridin’ Out the Recession, in Miz Judi’s Kitchen! Thanks for stopping in to visit with us today!

We have started doing some video finally and we really hope you all enjoy them. The first few videos are of our place here in Florida. We wanted to show you some of the place so you could see we do in fact live a pretty simple lifestyle, and the type of terrain we have here in our home state. This is for those of you who haven’t been to the “Sunshine State” before.

Deb and I have been really blessed in our lives in many, many different ways, and our home place is one of them. In the big picture though, good friends, family, our health, the freedoms our Country provide, and love for our Lord are the most important!

Re: Rising fuel Prices

From: Gary
The revolts in the middle east didn’t start because they discovered Twitter, it’s because the cost of food grains has doubled in the past 9 months. And here’s a little trivia. According to the EIA, the US turned 5.1 billion bushels of corn into ethanol in 2010. For perspective that 5.1 billion bushels would give 1 lb of corn to 780 million people every day for a year. Just sayin’

** Hey Gary. Thanks for taking the time to stop and comment, and it is appreciated. Thanks for reading! You’re right. This has been building for quite some time, and though Twitter helped in the organizing of what we watched take place, people who are starving…make things happen, good or bad. It is a scary sight I’m sure…thousands of hungry people in the streets!

I sure hope we don’t see this coming here! By the way, the corn stats you provided…they’re absolutely staggering! Thanks Gary, and come back to visit again!

Become more involved in your children’s lives

Welcome back to Miz Judi’s Kitchen. I hope all are doing well today. Thank you for coming back to visit with us once again.

It’s another beautiful day here in Florida, sunny and warm. Now I would like to take a few moments to talk with you all about our kids.

How many times have you heard our kids are weak and have no responsibility? That they don’t respect anything or anyone?
