Mother-in-laws

Welcome back to Miz Judi’s Kitchen. I hope all are doing well today. Thank you for coming back to visit with us once again.

I would like to take a few moments of your time today to talk about mother in-laws .
Now I, like you, have heard many stories about how bad they. I had a friend of mine who always said, “I wish my Mother in-law would mind her own business, and quit telling me how she does things!

I must admit, that I have the most kind and loving mother in-law you will ever meet, and anyone that knows her will tell you the same thing. A lot of it I think, is simply from getting Dub out of her house for her!

She loves to fish as much as I do, and when we lived on the lake, she’d come down for the weekend, and we’d fish all day and half the night.

Dub was a good sport about it, too. He would cook our dinner and bring us snacks out to the dock, and never say a word about it. Now maybe that was because his Mama was there! I’ll have to check into that.

She came down one weekend, and we started fish around 8:00 that morning. We had caught some and were just having a ball! She had been fishing in the same spot all afternoon, and Dub walked down to the dock and told his Mama, “Why don’t you come over to this side and try it? I see some fish jumping out here.” So she did.

Well I thought to myself, let me move on over to where Ruthie was, and I’m here to tell you I hadn’t been there 10 min. when I caught about a 12lb. bass! Seriously, I sure did, right where Ruthie had just left! Well, you talk about Dub getting told a few things by his Mama, whew, that man got blasted! She was madder ‘n a wet hornet!

But honestly, I’m the exact same way! Fishing to Ruthie and I is just about the most important thing you can be doing…while you’re doing it!

After a little while though, Ruthie had “overed it”, and was still picking at Dub. She’d say, “Yea Mama, you might want to come over here, I see fish jumping here! All you did was set me up to let ole Deb catch that big one, didn’t you? You know that really was MY fish, don’t you?” She loves to laugh and joke around and that’s where Dub gets a lot of his nonsense.

Now we were on that dock until 3:30 the next morning, the whole time her trying to outdo me! Remember, we’d got on the dock about 8:00 the morning before, but I have to say we had a great time!

Well about 6:00 the next morning, she was back out there fishing. I think it was around 10:00 when I finally got back down there. I will tell you one thing about Ruthie, she slap wears Dub and I out when she comes down! I don’t think she knows what the word slow down means!

Once, we were up at Dub’s parent’s lake house, and I often wondered why his Dad never, and I do mean never, goes out in the boat with Dub and his mom? It was always me had to go when those two went off in the boat together!

When I’d go, somehow I always ended up in the middle. Well, after my first trip with them, I knew why his Dad never went with them! Those two would have lures flying over my head, and not the first time would they holler, “Duck, or Lookout!” Oh, no!

Not only am I ducking lures, it was always hun, would you hand me this, or hun, would you hand me that? In between ducking hooked projectiles, and playing Hazel the maid, I mighta’ got to throw out a few times a day!

Again, Ruthie gets serious about her fishing, and one time she had cast up behind a cypress tree, and wouldn’t you know it…she hung one! Well with the wind blowing, so you can’t just stop the boat, and she got to yelling to, “ Stop the boat, stop the boat! I got one!” Then Dub would yell back, “I’m trying to stop the boat, Mama!” I just knew one of them was fixing to take a swim.

But Ruthie got her fish in the boat, and they were like “Oh Mama, I am sorry,” and she was like, “Oh, me too, son,” it all just made me sick! But, all’s well that ends well.

So till next time, keep a smile on your face and one in your heart!

God Bless each and every one of you.

Deb
