All you need to know about compost and composting

Good morning, and welcome once again to Coverin’ the Bases. Thank you all for coming and it’s good to see you back.

When we started this column, I thought I knew quite a bit about the topics we speak about. These being recipes, gardening, cooking, canning, vacuum sealing, and the like.

Honestly, in regards to our own situation, we are pretty self-sufficient in many ways. But in regards to the “science” of what we’re doing, our website’s log-in for me, could literally be…imadumee! Kudos to Brian…right, ole’ buddy?

I had no idea of the amount of knowledge and information in regards to our topics that is out there, literally it’s endless. Does it all apply? No, it doesn’t, but it DOES in many cases.

Household cleaning tips

Good morning, and welcome back once more…to Miz Judi’s Kitchen!

I hope this finds everyone happy and healthy! You can tell spring is in the air, can’t you? Everything is turning green, birds are singing, and it just makes you want to get outside and find something to do! Or, just enjoy the nice weather, sitting in the swing, and watching the little animals go about their daily business.

So, take a few minutes each day, to look around and enjoy what God has offered you! Just sit back and take your mind off it all, take a deep breath, and say thank you God, for I am truly blessed!

Brunch Casserole, Pork Chop Casserole

These two dishes come from the Church my Sister Louise attends in Dowling Park. Dowling Park is in North Florida (Dub calls them Yankees), and right near the Suwannee River.

This is where I grew up, and many of the stories I tell were actually taking place right here! I tell you, time sure flies, doesn’t, it? At times, looking back, it seems just like yesterday!

Jerky for the DEHYDRATOR, Canned ground chuck, potatoes

Good morning everybody. How are you this morning? Welcome back to Coverin’ the Bases! C’mon in and sit a spell, if you’d like.

I think you guys will enjoy today’s column as we’ll be attempting to answer some of our friends questions they’ve offered up. This is what makes it so fun for Deb and I… the participation involved among us all! I personally would like to thank each and every one of you on a job…well done!

First off, I’d like to thank our own “Mississippi Queen,” this morning! What a great person she is, and also one who has become very involved in the column, and actually Dub and Deb’s lives! She’s very knowledgeable in a wide variety of topics, and in a throwback to yesteryear, is a fine example of a true “Southern Belle!” Do I get the cookbook, yet, I’m pourin’ it on pretty heavy this morning? LOL!!

Good morning to you guys! How is everybody? We hope this finds all well, and finds you with happiness in your heart! We’d like to welcome you back again to Ridin’ Out the Recession!

You know we’ve been planting our gardens for the last couple weeks or so, and I’ve had time to spend with more of the guys who work with us lately. The last couple weeks we’ve been between jobs so they’ve been here on the place putting in a few hours.

We have two pretty good jobs lined up and approved, but we’ve had a lull between start dates. I’m hoping by next week we’re back in the saddle and humping it once more.

Diamond-X Dutch Oven Hot Wings, Hunter’s Lunch

It also has little stories, and tips scattered throughout. You guys might want to take a look at it for yourselves, or as a gift.

Mama and horse trading

Good morning and welcome back once more…to Miz Judi’s Kitchen!

I hope this finds everyone healthy and happy today. I was sitting around and wondering what I might share with you today, and I happened to think about my brother and the day he brought that darn horse home. Well, I guess you could call it a horse, that thing was so skinny you could read a newspaper through it.

Well, with him being the only boy, of six girls, you might say he was just a little spoiled…maybe.

Good morning to all our friends and neighbors! Deb and I would like to welcome you guys back to Ridin Out the Recession in Miz Judi’s Kitchen! Thanks for coming back in to see us this morning, and if you haven’t visited with us before today…shame on ya!

No, actually if this is your initial visit, Deb and I would like to extend a cordial welcome to you guys as well! We hope you like what you find, and will come back to see us again!

Spring is in the air people, and doesn’t it feel good. We were looking at our yard and pastures this past weekend, and boy, they’re really starting to green up. Here in the next week or two, we’ll give the pastures a good shot of fertilizer, and the cows will be happy campers.
Ingram Grove Care, out of Winter Haven, fertilize them for us, and take care of about a hundred acres of grove for a good friend of ours. We kinda oversee his groves for him, and Robbie Ingram, Bud’s son, is who we deal with.
