A New Garden Just Around the Corner

Good morning…

You know that we bought about 3-1/2 acres back in March. We had some of it cleared, and this was in order to plant some Pensacola Bahia grass for the cows.

This place was basically a scrub, and after clearing we burnt the brush we had cleared. In the last few weeks we’ve built a new fence, and have been picking up roots and limbs the loader couldn’t get. We’ll now turn the ground in just a little, and hopefully we’ll get it seeded today, if not, by tomorrow for sure.

You Can Do Anything You Want To Do Son

Good morning to all. We hope this finds you all well today.

“You can do anything you want to son.” I heard these words at a very early age, and as I grew older, I heard it more and more. The voice behind this statement…my Dad’s.

Not only did he preach this, he believed it, and he led by example. I was very fortunate to have had this man as my mentor, and even more fortunate to have had him as my Dad.

What Does the Word Freedom Mean To You?

Good morning and welcome back.

Last night I woke up at 1 a.m., got up, and Cheyenne and I went outside. I nursed a cup of coffee while Cheyenne was sniffin’ around the grounds. Oh she loves those early morning runs around the yard and takes great pride in “protectin” ole Dub from boogers. So far I have to admit she must be doing a pretty good job, cause as of yet, I ain’t seen the first booger…period!

Well, after I’d drank a couple cups of coffee, and Cheyenne had cleared the area, we went inside to see what might be on the TV.

Deb Just Called Him…Turtle

Good morning to you this morning. We hope you guys are all doing well today!

I’m gonna’ talk about a very dear and special friend, who we lost 3 years or so ago. He was our neighbor when we lived on Lake Marion, and his name was Ronnie, but Deb before long dubbed ole’ Ronnie…”Turtle”.

Deb hung this handle on him because Ronnie NEVER got in a hurry! We passed him one time on the highway in his truck. I didn’t think I’d ever get around that guy!

Compensation For Claims Of Discrimination?

Good morning to all, and we hope you’re doing well today.

You know, I was going through a magazine that deals with Polk County Agriculture, flipped the page and there staring at me was a full page ad…USDA Notice to Women and Hispanic Farmers and Ranchers: Compensation For Claims of Discrimination.

When does this type of bull…. Stop? Honestly, when do we decide that we’re tired of these leaders of ours literally stealing our money?
Racism, or discrimination? I am so sick of these two words and the blatant lies affiliated with them, perpetrated by the left and their cohorts.

A Few Odd and Ends

Good morning, and welcome back to Ridin’ Out the Recession, in Miz Judi’s Kitchen. We’re glad to see you guys today.

We’ve been pretty busy the last couple of weeks. It all started with Deb’s spring cleaning, and we’ve been busy ever since.

We bought a piece of land last March that adjoined us in a corner of our property. This piece is 3.7 acres, but has a lot of road frontage on two paved roads. 850’ on one, and right at 1000’ on the main road. We’ve cleared it, I say clear, we took out as few trees as we could, but enough to plant bahaia grass, and this will give the cows a little more grazing too.

A balanced budget amendment sounds logical to me

Good morning to all! Thanks for stopping back by!

Well, there isn’t much gardening going on at the moment, here at our place anyway. We’ll be planting peas and okra next month. Until then, I guess you guys get to listen to me rattle off some…

Where to start? How about let’s kick this off with Sen. John McCain’s description of Tea-Party backed politicians as “bizarre, foolish, and deceiving…” for wanting to pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. A balanced budget amendment sounds logical to me.

What about you guys…are you in?

Wellington Sausage Roll, Ham Loaf

Well, the last recipes I put up, Snappin Turtles, I thought to be pretty neat for the kids, although the nutritional benefits probably were nil, as they were all swallowed up by the fat content! They aren’t for people with heart problems, for sure.

My point in bringing them back up is simple…the accompanying video, which Deb says was risqué. If I offended anyone, I’m sorry, but I thought it just too funny an opportunity to pass up…the “Snappin Turtle (Congressman) Weiner Burger.”

Spring Cleaning…by the numbers, and “One-Eared” Bob

Good morning all! Welcome back to Miz Judi’s Kitchen, and we’re glad to see everyone again. We hope all goes well in your lives today, and every other day too.

Ya wanna put a frown on Dale and “one-eared Bob’s faces? Just mention that you’re headed up to Deb’s to do a little spring cleaning. That woman made a believer out of those two.

We hadn’t gotten to our spring cleaning earlier because of Deb’s situation, and I just believe it had gotten to the point it was driving her crazy. It was beginning to get next to me too, and I swear if she hadn’t grabbed the bull by the horn in this regard, then I’m sure I would have. I literally couldn’t have stood it myself, over another year or too!

Snapping Turtle Hamburgers

Now, we’re going to share something with you guys today that I saw once before. I forgot about it, and for some reason or another I remembered it last night. After looking around I found it again.

I first saw these quite a while back. They were being prepped by a lady who had taken several pictures of this while doing them. I believe her to have been from Louisiana, but I’m not positive.

I think you guys will get a kick out of this, as I know I did when I saw them, I thought they were a hoot. I know your kids, and grandkids will love it, and I’m sure they’d even love to help in making these along with you.

One of these we make today will be going home with Red to give to Shelby Lynn.

We’ll be including a video along with some pictures with this recipe, to show you all how to make these dern things! Again, I think you’ll all get a kick out of these.

“Snappin Turtles”:
3 lbs. hamburger (ground chuck)
2 packs of hotdogs
2 packs of bacon
black pepper
Cheese (your favorite)

Patty your hamburgers and top with cheese. Basket weave your bacon around the hamburger and cheese patties. Then strategically place your hotdogs as needed.

Place on a rack in a baking pan, and cover loosely with foil. Bake for an hour, to an hour and fifteen minutes or so, take out and serve.

The video is just a tad risqué at the end.

Patty out your burgers, layout six slices of bacon to basket weave, add a slice of cheese to the burger, and cut three hotdogs in half for each burger.

You can also add a slice of onion, some mushrooms, basically anything you like on your burger.

Weave your bacon around your hamburger, and prepare your legs, tail, and head for your turtle

Stick your hot dog pieces into the burger. Slice the feet twice for the claws, or toes, and make a point for the tail

The finished product…
