What Does the Word Freedom Mean To You?

Good morning and welcome back.

Last night I woke up at 1 a.m., got up, and Cheyenne and I went outside. I nursed a cup of coffee while Cheyenne was sniffin’ around the grounds. Oh she loves those early morning runs around the yard and takes great pride in “protectin” ole Dub from boogers. So far I have to admit she must be doing a pretty good job, cause as of yet, I ain’t seen the first booger…period!

Well, after I’d drank a couple cups of coffee, and Cheyenne had cleared the area, we went inside to see what might be on the TV.

I caught “The Ernie Pyle Story,” about 10 minutes into it. I’d read on Ernie Pyle before, and knew about him, but I hadn’t seen this before. This is a documentary, and I found it very interesting. If you get a chance to watch it, please do.

While watching this, and all the different places Pyle reported from, it dawned on me just how lucky we are to have been born in America…”the land of the free, and the home of the brave.”

This got me to thinking about the freedoms our Country provides for each and every one of us, and the power our elected officials have bestowed on themselves, but by doing so, the freedoms we as Americans are letting them take away from us.

This is one thing that bothers me to no end. Our elected officials, through their power and lust for more, have elevated themselves above the rest of us. This is not only their fault, but putting some of the blame where it lays, is our fault too.

We went to sleep at the wheel, and now that we’re finally beginning to “snap outta’ it,” we have much work to do, and like I say, we brought a lot of it on ourselves. Washington has to be cleaned up, and people who are involved in our government these days have to be made accountable…accountable to the people once again.

This starts with each one of us. We need to get our ducks in a row. We need to research and learn…WHO are these people we elect for office?

Surprisingly to me, many of our elected officials don’t love our Country for what it is, what it stands for, and what has been laid out for us by our Founding Fathers. These are the people who MUST go, but I have to tell you, this will be one heck of a fight. For too long now, they’ve been bringing their plans to destroy America as we’ve always known it to pass.

Welfare programs, public service pensions, retirement packages, and health care, all creating unsustainable economic pressure on our economy. WAY too large a government, with WAY too much power.

Couple these with the cost of illegal immigrants, their education, welfare programs, hospitalization, and yes, even prison incarceration, you simply continue to overload the system, right?

Now, you start not producing jobs, which our current administration backs wholeheartedly, UNLESS it’s a public sector job, and it’s pretty simple to see where they’re taking us…the financial destruction of the middle class here in America, and capitalism goes out the window to boot. At least for us, the “common folk.”

The powers that be, the very ones that speak so loudly against the evils of capitalism, all condone it in their own lives. It seems that they only look at capitalism as being evil, simply because as long as we the people are living as a capitalistic Nation, then they have no way to control us.

We generate and create our own wealth, and they can’t get us to where they REALLY want us, if we have that type of freedom. SO…capitalism is evil, and what we really need is social equality, man…you know, everyone having the same thing man….

And, through their giveaways, their buying of votes, their media and educational control, their usage of the illegal situation here in our Country (free stuff means votes, and the more free stuff you give out, and the less you enforce border security the more votes you have), their many community organizing programs, and with the support they give to and receive from the unions, they’re making tremendous headway.

One quick question…ever seen a Communist Country that didn’t start off with some type of labor movement? You’ve heard the saying before…”workers of the world unite.” Today the Andrew Stern’s of today’s unions, here in our Country, voice the same thing.

You say it ain’t so…Really?

Uncle Sam is now involved in all facets of your life. Wanna’ start a new business? Okay, see if Uncle don’t get real involved…real quick.

Wanna’ build a home? Okay, see what Unk will let you do, or NOT do.

You wanna put up something as simple as a shed…in your own backyard? No way Jose, you first gotta go see Uncle Sam.

History has shown time and again, the “Marxist, Socialist, once more I just call it what it is, which is communist,” agenda does not work. Oh it works for the elites, but not for the people. The people are oppressed, but the elites, well, they’re just…ELITES!

Sadly, this is where we’re at today in our Country, at a crossroads. Communism versus capitalism, here in America, can you believe it?

We experienced good times, and let complacency rock us to sleep, and by doing so, well, we can see what that’s done for us. We gave the politicians an inch, and they’re still taking, with no end in sight!
This brings us back to Ernie Pyle.

You know, Ernie Pyle was a correspondent during WWII. He earned the respect of our fighting men, by living in the same conditions, eating the same food, even being so close to the fighting, he too shared the same fate as our young men as well, and this in the end is what killed Ernie Pyle.

He had gone home after the fall of Germany, stating, “”I am leaving for just one reason . . . because I have just got to stop. I have had all I can take for a while.”

He couldn’t stay home, though as the War in the Pacific called. On April 18, 1945, on le Island, just west of Okinawa, Ernie Pyle was killed by Japanese machine gun fire…

This morning, as I mentioned earlier, I watched his documentary. As I sat and watched, I saw battle area after battle area, basically across the globe, with dead and wounded American soldiers scattered across the landscapes.

The call had been made, and thousands upon thousands of our young fighting men responded to the call, and in so doing took their last breath before meeting their maker, on a beach, or in a field, on the sea, or in the air, thousands of miles from their homes, and their families, thousands of miles away. Many, many of them died alone, but by so doing helped to preserve the freedoms and liberties we expect to have as Americans!

You see, freedom doesn’t come cheaply, but with a cost, and sometimes this cost is great, but never too great. This is why it has persevered in our Country for so long…although the cost can be heavy, the draw and appeal of freedom far outweighs the bad. This is why we give our lives in keeping our freedoms just that…it is our freedom.

Watching this show, seeing the sacrifice by so many, literally shamed me on account of what we’ve allowed our country to become.

Ironically, many of the same ideologies, and agendas supported by our enemy combatants on these same battlefields, and many more like it through our Country’s history, are now embedded amongst us here in our Country today.

These ideologies are condoned, and advocated by far too many, actually only one would be too many, of our elected officials.

They sit in our Congress, our Senate, and all the way to the White House. They are in our schools, our churches, and our hometowns. They can’t whip us on the battlefield, so their intent now is to whip us from within.

Whip us with our own freedoms of speech they use so well in their own behalf, yet throttle these same freedoms of speech when we as true Americans, try to speak out. This done simply through cries of racism, discrimination, hate speech, and under the cover of “political correctness.”

This agenda must be stopped, or America will be lost forever. Lost in the sense of what we always stood for, versus what we’ve become. It needs to become a priority now to us all.

The same priority as trying to raise our family, trying to make the best decisions you can make in regards to your family, and as simple as the same priority you have each morning in waking up, brushing your teeth, getting dressed, and going off to work. It has to become a priority in your daily life, each and every day.

So quickly, let’s look at what the word freedom means to me…

First, the word freedom means the right to raise our children as we see fit. To do what we feel best in the rearing and development of our children. These are our children, and not wards of the State, so they are our responsibility, and this is our God given right, not one handed out to us by our government. Right? You might want to think on this before you answer.

The word freedom to me also means that if our children act up, and boy oh boy they sure have a tendency to do that every so often don’t they, then it is our right, our privilege as parents, and in reality our obligation to discipline our children. Right? I just ain’t so sure about all that anymore…

The word freedom means to be able to send our children to good schools, and see to it they receive the best possible education, and learn about our history as a Country, and the many sacrifices made by our fellow Countrymen insuring these same freedoms for us.

It means a good, balanced education, and our children being challenged by their teachers to do better…you can always do a little better. It means our children learning of all the good things our Country represents, and not about all our shortcomings or evils many of our educators like to indoctrinate our children with. This is right, isn’t it?

Freedom to me means our right as citizens of the United States of America being able to worship however, and whomever you so choose. With most in our Country being Christians, I take great offence in not being able to, but I always do anyway, is wish people to have a Merry Christmas.

Isn’t this our right as Christians to express His day, the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ?
But in order to be “politically correct” we have to say…Happy Holidays!! It just ain’t the same is it?

Hell no it ain’t!

But, our President allows a day to observe Ramadan in the White House, and guess what…they don’t call it “a holiday!” It’s called Ramadan??? See, that just backs up what I was saying earlier about the left using our freedom of speech. They, and everybody else can use it…just not us. Sounds like this may be another dern example of one more loss…again, of our freedom.

Freedom to me means a government run on morals, integrity, and for the betterment of the American people. It means an opportunity for the people to better their lives through hard work and their conviction to success.

It means the people having the freedom and opportunity to start their own business, and grow them or lose them through their own abilities, or inabilities. They should not lose their business by having too much government regulation, intervention, taxation, or forced unionization. Has this too become, or is fast becoming a lost freedom as well? What do you think?

Freedom to me, means having elected officials who say what they mean, and don’t feed you false promises. It means having a politician with morals and standards of their own, and their personal integrity considered by them, above all things.

I want a politician with honor, and who considers his political status as an honor in its own right, and the respect given by the politician to his Country and its citizens, in regards to holding such office. This is what we have today, is it not? Hmmm…

Although I could go on and on as to what the word freedom means to me, I’ll close by citing one more example.

Freedom to me, is exemplified by the fact of our own immigrants, immigrants which come here daily. If they come the right way, I say welcome, and good luck. If they come illegally, then in 9 out of ten cases, I personally, would deport them, with the penalties for continued illegal entry severe. Come the right way, or don’t come at all.

My point though is simply, if you came here for a better life, the opportunity to work and provide for you your family, and by this, benefit your new Country as well. You came for the opportunities provided, not the giveaways, or to “work the system.”

This is what freedom is all about, and because of this word…freedom, you should love your new Country as your own…as an American in our case.

Isn’t this today what we see taking place here mainly? Support for, and accepting our own morals as standards for your own family, because you elected to become an American? Which by the way, is an honor to be.

This though I’m afraid is not what I’m seeing by organizations such as La Raza, or the Nation of Islam, and many, many more of groups just like these! Do these people love our Country? You tell me. Are they glad to be here? You tell me! Are they proud to be Americans? Again, you tell me.

Shoot, my only question is, “What in the world are they here for, number one, and number two, what in the world are our politicians doing catering to them? Changing our morals, and standards…so we as Americans, don’t offend people that don’t like us in the first place! Don’t you just love “political correctness?” Yeah, me too.

I by no means attempted to only single out WWII as “the war,” but only used it as an example of our men and women who died by such great numbers in this conflict. Many, many of our young men and women today have these same traits our WWII vets had, and any other veteran of any war or battle they were involved in in defense of our Country.

This is what gives me hope. These very young men and women of our armed forces today, have much of the same love of Country, feel the same duty to serve, and accept the same consequences of fate when they go to serve. God Bless them all.

Many have the same blood running through their veins that has served in our armed forces since the birth of our Country. The blood that has been passed down from generation to generation, from father to son, and father to son, is still on the battlefield today, defending our…freedom. This, too is what the word freedom means to me.

2012 is coming, and let’s all be ready.

So, I ask you all today…what does the word freedom, mean to you?

One other thing. I received an e-mail that I’m sure many of you have already seen. It was about wearing some sort of blue clothing every Friday. This to be done as a show of support for our men and women in our military.

Deb and I remembered it today, and will start trying to wear an article of blue every Friday. I think it would be a good thing for us all to do, plus we could see for ourselves the support for the troops. Think about it.

Well, we wish you guys the very best in all you do. God Bless you and yours, and Deb says…keep a smile on your face, and one in your heart.

An excellent and thought provoking post with, sadly, some parallels in Canada. Being proud of your country is viewed in a very negative light by far too many.

This is the first I’ve heard of your blue fridays. We have something similar. For us, it’s red friday (partly because of our red maple leaf, partly to symbolize the blood of our fallen soldiers), and was started up by a group of military wives. Most people don’t really know about it, but we have a new tv station, Sun News Network, that talked about it. Not all the anchors knew about it, but now they all try to wear something red on fridays.
