REVOLUTION……..NOVEMBER 22, 2011

“When it comes to the future, there are three kinds of people, those who let it happen, those who can make it happen, and those who wonder what happened”…John M. Richardson Jr…1902-1983

Someone once told me that promises were made to be broken, and I am about to break mine by issuing another REVOLUTION………with all the daily disturbing news, how can anyone sit by without trying to develop anger amongst people whom I believe are just as upset in seeing the “slow destruction” of the America I grew up with, raising a family that believed in the Constitution, and lived the American dream.

Taking Deb On A Trip:

Good morning! How is everybody today? We’d like to thank you guys again for stopping back by to visit with us today.

Well, Friday morning Deb and I are going to take a little trip. We’ll be gone 10-14 days, and we’ll be taking along our “baby girl,” Cheyenne along too. Deb says she ain’t going without ole “Shiny girl.” I suggested they stay here and I’d go alone, but that ain’t gonna fly. I wonder why??

Anyway I told her we needed to take a break and get away for a few days and she said, “Where to?”

I suggested Orlando, it’s about 20 minutes from us, and she said, “No way!” I asked her, “Why, is it too far to drive? If so, we can stay a little closer to home if you’d like…we don’t really HAVE to go that far if you don’t want to.”

Well, she’s JUST NOW started speaking to me again! I swear, I’ll never figure a woman out! I did tell her that I’d take her on a trip, but shoot, I figured Orlando would be far enough! Wouldn’t you?

The Word, “EXCITIN”…it just ain’t what it used to be…

Well good morning, how is everyone? I don’t know what the problem might have been, but for some reason or other I had to have an extra cup of coffee to “get motivated” this morning.

I wish I could report to you guys it was on account of Deb keeping me up to all hours of the night, and sometimes she does. I mean, just the other night I sat up with her for quite some time…she wanted to talk…and talk…and TALK!

Shoot, by the time she finally dozed off to sleep…it was dern near 9:30!!Yeah…AT NIGHT! Believe that?

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I have to get my sleep. Two or three nights in a row of keeping those kind of hours, and that really puts a strain on a “workin man!” LOL!

Spinach, Mustard Green, and Potato Soup, Okra and Corn Bake, and Molasses Pork Tenderloin with Red Wine Sauce:

You guys know we had done a video of what we still had growing in the garden. This was mainly okra, and mustard greens that are coming in now, but there is still very young cabbage, collard greens, and broccoli. These aren’t anywhere near close to coming in right now.

Since we are getting okra heavily, at least picking it every other day, and our mustards are just fixing to really be producing too, I figured we’d share with you a couple recipes, one for okra, and one for greens.

Videos Of The New Door For the Hog Pen/Trap, And What’s Still in the Garden:

Hey guys, and welcome back today. We hope everything is going along just fine for everyone, and you’re all getting primed up for Thanksgiving. Can you believe another year is almost gone. Where does the time go anymore?

Well, we’d showed you our hog pen we built earlier, and we feel it turned out nice. It’s located in a good spot with plenty of shade for the hotter months, and is a well built, sturdy pen. But, we found a flaw. Maybe flaw isn’t the right word, as our old setup worked, but this new system will definitely work out better for us.

What changed our mind? A friend from Youtube sent us over a diagram of a trap he’d built. After looking over his plan, then comparing it to our layout, it was obvious that his setup would be much more efficient. So…we made the switch!

We Received a Nice Surprise:

Good morning, and welcome back to Ridin Out the Recession. What a beautiful day today, it’s a little breezy because of a front pushing through, but it cooled it down some and it’s really nice out. Also, let me say thanks for dropping back in to visit with us again.

Well, Deb and I had a little surprise about a week ago. We had a greenhouse delivered to our place, and man are we looking forward to having it set up! This will really be used a lot, especially in regards to keeping a few vegetables going year round and supplying us with fresh juice even during winter.

We have a buddy, Billy, who has worked around the nursery business here in Central Florida for many, many years. He’s built them, maintained them, shoot, there ain’t too much of anything Billy can’t do period!

Deb’s Latest Blood Test…PERFECT Once Again:

Well guys, we took Deb back to the Doctor this past Monday for more blood work, and to have her port flushed out again. The results of her blood work…PERFECT!! Yes!

As you know, Deb took one chemo treatment, then, opted for alternative treatment. SO, when we hear that her blood tests are again perfect, boy, does that make us feel good. Through these tests, we don’t know how much ground we’re gaining yet, BUT, it lets us know that we sure ain’t losing ground either.

By her blood count tests coming back so well each time, this lets us know that as of right now her body is functioning as it should…

Remoulade Sauce, Sawmill Gravy, Red-Eye Gravy, and “Hoover Sop”:

Good morning…you all! How is everyone today? We’d like to welcome you back to Ridin Out the Recession, in Miz Judi’s Kitchen once again.

As you know, Deb and I are eating a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, and most know our reasoning for this…

Anyway, there’s only so many ways to fix your vegetables, and with this in mind, we’re always looking for “new twists” in preparing them. You all are aware that from a nutrition standpoint, the most nutritious way to eat them is raw.

The other day going through a cookbook, we came across a recipe for Remoulade Sauce. This is a mayonnaise based sauce that is widely used in one of New Orleans classic dishes…Shrimp Remoulade.

This is boiled shrimp served cold over salad greens with this sauce. It is also used with “po boy sandwiches,” and as a topping for cold beef, pork and chicken. The recipe we’ll be sharing with you today is a Remoulade Sauce that is based on several different recipes from the 1880’s to the 1960’s.

REVOLUTION/ EVOLUTION…………NOVEMBER 2011

Good morning to y’all…….everyone is experiencing the financial mess our country is experiencing, as is the producers of this “information please”. Our staff has left after their demands to unionize, (and get paid), paper and ink costs have risen 36%, electric, cooling and heat has reached the limits of the editor……..the effect on my digging into subjects, and trying to get them out to y’all, has gotten my blood pressure too high………I will continue to direct my attention to one or two subjects, may not change anyone’s opinion, or be old news by the time you get my opinion, but y’all will know how this person feels about the condition of our country……..
