Salmon Patties With Sauce, Crab Quiche, Baked Cheese and Shrimp Custard, and Vinegar Pie

Good morning. How is everybody today? We hope all are well, and enjoying the start to the weekend!

Mom and Dad are coming down for lunch. We’re having Granny Margaret’s Meatloaf, peas, macaroni-n-cheese, Mom’s chili sauce, rice and tomato gravy and a good fresh salad.

After the meal, for dessert, Deb will be havin carrots dipped in beet juice for her sweet tooth, and I’ll be having the same, followed up immediately with a #1 washtub full of peach cobbler covered with homemade vanilla ice cream!

Just kiddin Mississippi, on both counts! That dern peach cobbler and homemade ice cream do sound good though, doesn’t they? Wonder when ole Deb’s headed back up to Live Oak to see her family?
Hmmm…

Granny’s meatloaf is a hit though…every time! Our whole family loves it, and 9 out of 10 times, they come down, that’s what Mom and Dad want for the meal. I gotta say, that mutha makes some really good meatloaf sandwiches the next day…or two!

Let’s Talk This Morning

Hello every one. How are you guys this morning? We hope all are well and in good health and spirits. It’s Friday once again, and Lord knows, I have no idea where this past week has gone? Time flies!

Once more, I find myself torn in regards to our Country today. Again, Deb and I would like nothing better than to talk about gardening, canning food, tell a few jokes, and in general just keep a big smile on our faces about 90% of the time.

But, I have to ask each of you today…where, when, and how did our Country “jump its tracks?”

How did the term “Merry Christmas” become offensive? How did we lose our industrial might? How did the act of disciplining your OWN child, by the way, become a crime, and an act to not be tolerated by our, “lawmakers?”

Again, I’m not talking abuse, I’m merely speaking of disciplining YOUR child…NOT THEIRS!

Today, it seems that teaching our children at home the values of morals, character, honesty, a work ethic, and respect, not just for themselves, but others as well, is wrong.

REVOLUTION…..APRIL 17, 2012

Good morning to one and all!

Well, here’s our good friend AP once more with… “The Revolution!”

If you would, how about wishing AP a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I believe AP just turned…93 years young!

“Mr. Vice President, Mr. Chief Justice, and fellow citizens. I accept with humility the honor which the American has conferred upon me. I accept it with deep resolve to do all that I can for the welfare of this Nation and for the peace of the world.
“Almost a year ago, in company with 16 free countries of Europe, we have launched the greatest cooperative economic program in history. The purpose of that unprecedented effort is to invigorate and strengthen democracy in Europe, so that free people of that continent can resume their rightful place in the forefront of civilization and can contribute once more to the security and welfare of the world.
“Our efforts have brought new hope to mankind we have beaten back despair and defeatism. We have saved a number of countries from losing their liberty. Hundreds of millions of people all over the world agree with us, that we need not have war, that we can now have peace…….The initiative is ours”……..

The Garden is Looking Good

Good morning all. How is everybody today? Deb and I have been great. Man…low 50’s down here the last couple nights! Feels GOOD!

The wind though blew the squash around pretty good. We lost two, just broke em off at the ground, but surprisingly we have maybe 3-4 more that need a couple broken stems cut out, and I believe the rest weathered pretty well.

Watching those things blow around brought back memories of my killing those 50 + plants to get our growin season off to a great start! LOL!

I was talking to our good friends, Bill and Sandy, from Mobile Alabama, who by the way are… “Auburn Tiger” fans (hee-hee-hee Sandy), and she’d sent us some pictures of what’s goin on gardenin wise up in their “neck of the woods.”

Their garden was looking great, and I believe Sandy said they’d just brought in 50# of potatoes! They, like us, love piddlin around in a garden.

Both these guys have green thumbs. The proof in the pudding of their having green thumbs was evidenced to me last year. I called them in January, it was about 15 degrees out up there and I ask, “Sandy, where’s Bill?” Her answer, “Oh…he’s out in the garden pickin some tomatoes.”

“???? 15 degrees and Bill’s in the garden picking fresh tomatoes???”

Sandy’s like, “Yeah, he’s been a little disappointed with em though…he don’t think they’ve done quite right.”

“Okay…”

How Could Protecting Our Children, or Ourselves be Criminal…and Indoctrination

Good morning guys, how are you today?

Let’s get started with today’s topic.

First off, let me state emphatically that I condone our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms! No question, or argument, could possibly persuade me to consider thinking otherwise. It is a necessary preventative in helping to keep America and its citizens free. No question.

Yet today, and in times past, the liberals have, and still press forward into forcing us into “gun control!” Many states don’t allow the purchase of handguns, or frown upon the ownership of guns regardless of the type of weapon you have.

This to me, is a repressive action that has NO legal or Constitutional right to be enforced period. Yet by so doing, countless people have been harmed, or killed by such action through home invasions, car-jackings, inadvertently walking into a robbery in progress, or even simply going out to a restaurant for a meal.

Read the papers, listen to the radio, or watch television. These things happen daily.

Garden Update and God Loves Drunks Too…

Good morning, and thanks for stopping back by to visit with Deb and I. We appreciate you doin so.

So far, so good with the garden. After getting off to a flying start this year by immediately killing about 50 +plants, we’re going along pretty good now.

If you didn’t know, well, we’d put up a greenhouse, and started most of our plants from seed. We wanted to use all heirloom varieties mainly on account of Deb’s juicing, or, our juicing. By doing so we’d have no genetically altered seeds, but in essence, basically the food God provided for us, and in Deb’s regard we felt this vital.

Quickly, while going through a Sports Illustrated” the other day, I read something that floored me, really. There was a little write up on cancer, and it claimed that in the US, 1 out of every 2 men would contract cancer in their lifetime. ONE out of every TWO! Half!

I found that just incredible?? What’s up with that?

In women’s regard…1 out of every 3. Still, 33% of women in the US today will contract cancer. Why is becoming so rampant? Is this our diets? Is it from most produce today being genetically altered? Is it what is being applied to the crops for insect control?

Ground Beef to $5 A Pound?

Good morning, and how are you guys doing?

You know that Deb and I are pretty simple people. We love our Country, we love our land, we love the freedoms and liberties we’ve always enjoyed as American citizens. We believe that we live in the greatest Country on earth, but, today we see too many far-left leanings that are literally putting our entire way of life as American citizens at risk…very, very serious risk.

Shoot, I’d like to talk today about a dern garden, how the vegetables are doing, how fine Deb’s been coming along, and just sit around and “shoot the bull” with you guys!

But today in our Country there are things we need to make people aware of. How does this happen, well, by talking about it. I don’t enjoy speaking to you guys from a political perspective in the least, BUT, I do feel it’s something that needs to be done. So, let’s talk a little…

Today I’d like to talk about the pricing Deb and I are seeing, not only at the grocery store, and the gas pump, but pretty much just about anything you purchase today. It’s really getting tough out there.

Why is this?

Kendra Bailey Morris and “White Trash Gatherings”

Good morning guys! We hope all are well, and can make it through just one more day…as tomorrow’s SATURDAY! Yeah man!

For all you younger guys that’s a pretty big deal. Relaxin, sittin on the couch, watchin a little sports, hollerin for “Mama” to bring ya a refill of some good cold iced tea, or just a good ole cold one period! You know, recreational time!

For all us “older gents,” Saturday ain’t a whole lot different than any other day of the work week. Why you younger guys ask? Well, all I gotta say is you better enjoy that recreational time now, cause once you get my age things change pretty drastically!

The reason…. “honey do’s!”

Ain’t no need it tryin to explain it to ya now, as it’d probably just go right over your heads, plus, there ain’t no need it bustin your bubble just yet…but your times comin!

Well, Kendra Bailey Morris…hmmm…

First off to be honest with you this morning, I’m not sure if she’s a married woman or not, and with that the case, out of respect I’m gonna call her “Miss Kendra.” If you happen to be married “Miss Kendra,” it’ll only take one e-mail to set me straight, and from here on out you’ll be…“Mrs. Kendra.” LOL!

The “Watering Down” of Our Country

Good morning to you all. We hope everyone is doing well this morning and this finds you in good health today and every day.

You know, our Country in my lifetime, has been known as the greatest Country on this earth. I’ve always been proud to be a citizen of the United States of America…still am. But, in reality, do I still consider America to be the greatest Country on earth?

I have to say yes, but my feelings waver on this actually quite often anymore. I see far too many things going on in our Country today that if not stopped, will cause the destruction of our Country as I’ve always known it.

What does this mean?

First off it means our children, our grandchildren, and all their children will never experience the America that I knew and loved. This includes the ability to go to work, EARN a living, save, sacrifice, or even start their own business to sell off down the road, or pass down to their children.

Since the inception of our Country, immigrants have flocked here to live the American Dream. The reasoning for this is very simple. Life here was much better than the lives they led in their own countries, and yes, it really is that simple.

Pinto Bean Pie, Miss Oma’s Grape Jelly Meatballs, Burney Papper’s Chili Sauce, Ollie V.’s Gingerbread, and “The Praying Hands”

Hey guys, how are ya’ll today? We hope everyone is doing just great.

Well, today I’ve been back in that dern cookbook, “White Trash Gatherings,” and found a few more recipes I’d like to share with you. I get a kick readin through this cookbook, and it’s about my 4th or 5th pass in it.

It’s really entertaining to read, and if you guys were born in the South, around my time, much of it brings back memories. Good, old, down home memories. I think of my Granddaddy Troy, his wife and my Granny Margaret, and my Mom’s mother, my Nanny Murphy.

Boy, what a different age we live in today. Life was so much simpler then. Don’t get me wrong, life was hard, and you WORKED for what you got…there were no such thing as… “ENTITLEMENTS!!!!”

If there had of been, most would have been too ashamed to have taken them! Don’t get me wrong…people did help people, but it was neighbor helping neighbor. They didn’t need, nor wanted “Uncle Sam” minglin in their business! They took care of one another.
