AMERICA…God Shed His Grace on Thee

Hey guys…good morning to ya!

You know, Deb and I have met so many wonderful people since the inception of our site. Once again, one of our friends we’ve met gave me a good shot of inspiration this morning. Her name is Bonnie.

I was checking my e-mails earlier and opened one up from our ole buddy Bonnie in North Carolina. In less than 5 minutes, my day had been “made!”

Quickly, Bonnie is a PATRIOT. She reads, writes, researches, and ACTS, daily in her own quest to get the message out to others in regards to the goings on in our great Country. She’s a tireless worker, and through this post this morning I’d just like to say, “Thank you Bonnie, I appreciate everything you do! God Bless you!”

Edmund Burke wrote, “Nobody makes a greater mistake than he who did nothing…because he could do only a little.”

In Other Words…“I’m Ticked!”

Good morning guys. I’d like to hear that everyone is doing fine, and your life is on track and things are going very well for you.

Today’s topic is simply about some things going on today that I find very disturbing. Yep, I’m a “good ole country boy,” whom many across this great Nation of ours find…simple.

In reality, I guess I am. I live simply in my lifestyle. This to me is…my cup of tea. I love being around people, yet, I love being to myself just as much. I enjoy the simple things in life. I like to read a book, grow a garden, cook, work, take a gun out and plink some cans, or, on a fall Saturday afternoon, just kick back in my recliner and watch a little football.

Again, in reality, I guess I am truly…a Simple Man. Not mentally as some may like to suggest, especially after today’s post, but in my choice in how I choose to live MY life.

This is one of the reasons why I love this great Country of ours. It provides each and every one of us with this freedom…the freedom of choice.

Think about that for a moment. Look around worldwide and ponder for a minute or two the other Countries worldwide who enjoy that freedom…the freedom of choice. The freedom of individuality. The freedom to say what you want. The freedom to make something of yourself, and build a foundation for your children to grow from.

Would You Like to Participate?

Good morning to everyone. How are you today? We hope this finds all doing well.

The rain continues here…daily. We had a couple periods yesterday of some heavy showers. It’s beginning to stand in the pastures some which isn’t real good on the cows. They have areas though to get out of the standing water.

It won’t stand long in normal situations, but in wet times such as these, there’s just nowhere for it to go. A couple dry, sunny days and it’ll be outta here. Next week the rain chances drop off considerably.

It really affects us in the business we’re in, which is paving. We also do sealcoating, lot striping, etc., but with the rain chances being so high like they are now, well, it’s better to sit it out instead of pushing our luck. Better safe than sorry.

The garden is taking a hit as well. Man, those little guys are beginning to suffer pretty heavily from a too much water standpoint. In times like these I’m wondering why in the heck didn’t I just bed em up…just in case? LOL!

Anyway…

Finish Up Planting Thursday

Hey guys. I hope you all are doing well. Tryin to play a little catch up here as it’d been a while since I’d posted. So, here’s two…back to back! See ya’ll again in about 6 weeks! LOL!

My last post was about how God works in our lives, and the day I had Sunday in regards to feelin kinda down and out was so inspiring in that sense. Honestly, everywhere I turned I was getting the very same message.

It truly was amazing to me how the frustration I had been feeling was literally crushed out by the messages I was getting from different people. Again, all were basically telling me the very same thing.

It was uncanny how all this came together and I felt I really needed to share that with you. I’ve never experienced anything like that before in my entire life, and I’ve been around a few years.

A Testimony to God’s Love

Good morning guys! I hope this post today finds everyone in good spirits and health.

I think maybe you guys just MIGHT want to “pull up a chair” this morning, cause I’m probably gonna get a little long-winded! Shoot, I ain’t talked to you in a while, so…bear with me!

Today I’d like to share a few things with you that have literally touched my heart, and it couldn’t have happened if it weren’t for the love of our good Lord…and you.

It’s amazing how God can touch you in the most opportune times. I am a living breathing example of this. We truly are blessed with a God of love.

I haven’t posted in a week or so, and to be honest, I’d been going through a period of, I don’t want to use the word depression, I feel it too strong in my case, but at least a period of…being confused.

Wondering what to do in my life. Wondering why I had to lose my partner. Wondering how in the world to keep up with all that’s going on since Deb’s passing? Wondering how to keep smiling and exhibiting a happy face, when in reality…I wasn’t all that happy?

Bikes, Gyp, and “Little Johnny”

Good morning guys! How’s everybody today? We hope this finds all in good health and spirits. I’m doin well, and have been stayin pretty busy around here.

First off, I have to tell you a quick story on ole Bob. Bob you know works with me here on the place. Well, Bob rides his bicycle EVERYWHERE! You may be 5-10 miles from the house and look out your car window and there pedalin away, is ole Bob.

Anyway, I asked last week if he’d like a ride up to Publix, a grocery chain here in Florida, and he said that he’d appreciate it. So, off we went.

On the way we were just talkin and Bob said that he had heard Jeff Foxworthy talkin about people that ride bikes, and said that Foxworthy had indeed “pegged him” in regards to bike ridin.

I had no earthly idea as to what he was talkin about, although I was definitely goin to hear about it whether I wanted to or not.

So Bob rambles on about Foxworthy declarin that if you saw a man out ridin a bike, it was…exercising. BUT, if you saw a man ridin a bike with a cigarette in his hand, it was…TRANSPORTATION!

I almost fell out of the truck. Bob is so dry most times in regard to his sense of humor, when he told me this story I almost cracked up. It was absolutely hilarious to me! Ole Bob…he never ceases to amaze me!

You Can’t Judge a Book by Its Cover

Good morning guys! I kick this off this morning hopin everybody is doing well and looking forward this comin Saturday to…some COLLEGE FOOTBALL! YES!

I had our 5 year old granddaughter, Shelby Lynn, here with me this past weekend. She came Saturday afternoon and left Sunday afternoon. By the time she left I felt like I had been run over by a truck! A great BIG truck! LOL!

If I could bottle and sell this child’s energy I’d be a very rich man. I don’t think she has even an inkling as to what a dern chair is used for. She’s wide open ALL the time. “Papa…let’s do this!” “Papa…let’s do that!” Non-stop, unbridled energy!

It was great though.

We went to a pizza place Saturday evening and both of us got…a hamburger! LOL! It ain’t that we don’t like pizza…we just like a good ole burger better!

At bedtime we told each other how much we love one another bout a hundred times, and we’ll see ya in the morning another hundred or so. That was BEFORE we turned the lights out!!
I think around midnight we were actually down for the count!

Plantin Peas Next Week

Good morning guys! I hope everyone is doin just fine and life is

Finally, we have gotten the garden out front cleaned up. Talkin bout a jungle, this thing had become exactly that. Weeds were almost head high in spots, but yesterday we finished pullin those mutha’s up.

They had gotten so bad in spots that we’d have to take the grubbing hoe and bust the roots up some. But, besides possibly an hour or so this morning, we’re be ready to till the soil, and start planting it back the first of the week.

We’ll have a couple of spots in our irrigation lines to splice back, “that dern grubbing hoe,” but it won’t take 20 minutes to do that. We’ll run it some to make sure all our heads or jets are working properly and we’re back in business.

I’ll probably go with a couple rows of okra, and finish most of it out with 2-3 types of peas. Probably black-eyes, cream 40’s and zippers or purple hulls.

I wasn’t going to plant peas this fall but after thinking on it some, as we’ve got a BUNCH canned and put up, but so many of our family and friends like them, I thought, you know, they can come and pick em a dern mess or two then I don’t have to give them my peas already shelled and canned!

Ah…Blind Dates and an “Over the Hill” Single Man

Good day to each and every one of you. I hope this finds all in good health and spirits.

How bout today, we talk about blind dates. You guys remember them right? Yeah, me too. I don’t know about the rest of ya’ll, but my experience had never been too good in regards to a…blind date. But, at my age you pretty much take what you can get.

Last week I went out on my first date that had been set up by a couple I’ve known for years. They too went along. You know how it works, they took me over to pick this lady up at her home, introduced me to my date and…her seeing-eye dog, “Ray C.”

Yep, here I am goin out on a “blind date” and the woman I’m goin out with WAS…literally blind!
