HAPPY BIRTHDAY “SPEEDY!”

I’d like all you guys to wish a good friend of mine and Deb’s a very, very Happy Birthday today, and he goes by the name of “Speedy!” Or at least to me he does!

“Speedy,” turns 92 today…April 17th.

He and his wife both are just two great people, and we love them to death! The only problem that I’ve ran across in regards to him is simply…he’s a darn Yankee!

Water hyacinths, VERY invasive plant species

Good morning, and welcome back to Coverin’ the Bases. We hope all are well, and getting ready for the weekend, as one more time, it’s here!

I don’t know about the rest of you but time literally flies by anymore! My Dad always used to tell me, “Son…whatever you do, don’t get old.” Shoot, he was good at telling me not to do it, but he never told me how not to!

He was telling me a while back, that he’d told my mom, “Ruth, whatever you do, don’t buy green bananas! Git’ ‘em ripe, so I know I’ll have time to eat them!” Both him and her are a mess.

Mr. Obama…Mama ain’t sharing her paycheck!

Good morning my friends. How are you guys doing today? We’d like to welcome you all back to Ridin’ Out the Recession.

Well, I guess everyone saw our President expressing to the Nation that we’d all like to see our taxes raised. Is this guy on planet Earth along with the rest of us? I mean, he basically said, that in our hearts we would like to give back to our Country for what the Country has done for us.

Sure, I don’t mind giving back to our Country, it’s all the ones who don’t, that I’m having a problem with, how about you?

“Hello Dolly” Candy, Banana Bread

Lately we’ve been throwing out some different salads for you, and Deb’s right, I do love a good, cold salad on a hot day. Honestly, they are so refreshing, had one for supper tonight, a number 1 wash tub full of it…fruit too.

But you know, I do love something sweet after supper. That’s my weakness, sweets! But good gracious, they are so good, with a big ole’ glass of ice-cold milk. Pie, cake, pudding, shoot, even an ole’ bag a M&M’s are hard to beat in a pinch!

Your Garden, and Bugs

Good morning to you all! Welcome back to Coverin’ the Bases. Thank you all for stopping by to see us again.

Since it’s the time of the year for you to be, or thinking about getting this year’s garden in the ground, then there’s another little part of gardening you need to be considering here pretty quick. Insect control.

In all my years past, my insect control consisted of (after taking a trip down south of the border several years back, and picking up a few 55 gallon drums) of one particular pesticide, after it was banned here in the U.S.

Cornbread Salad, Macaroni Salad:

These two recipes come from my sister Louise’s Church cookbook. I won’t tell you guys that she’s my older sister this time though, as she’s beginning to make a fuss over my bringing it up.

I saw Dub put up a couple salad recipes yesterday, and I’m going to today also. The reason being as spring turns into summer, Dub and I both love salads for lunch, and actually we eat them pretty often as the weather warms.

The Beekeeper Cometh

The Beekeeper Cometh

Good morning, and welcome back to Coverin’ the Bases. We thank you all so much for stopping by to visit with us.

As all you guys know, I had written an article asking if we had any readers who were in fact bee keepers, and would they let us know.

Well, we had a great response, and several responded. Thank you all so much!

My reasoning behind my request was simply, that I would like to keep 4-5 hives here on the place and work them. This would become reality through our friends on our site who could instruct me in the do’s and don’ts as well as pointing me in the right direction in regards to readable research.

Deb: Cancer and thank you for your prayers

Good morning and welcome back to Miz Judi’s Kitchen. I hope this finds all happy and healthy.

I would just like to say that I know I am truly blessed, and I always knew this, but until something happens to change your life, you don’t stop and really realize it.

I’m writing this on Saturday morning, sitting here contemplating the past week. Boy, what a rollercoaster ride!
