The Bread of Life… Jesus

Today, I’d like to only share one recipe with all of you guys. Though only one, I find this to be possibly one of the more important recipes we’ve shared with you.

This particular recipe I find is not one to nourish your body, but even more important than this. The recipe today is one to nourish your soul.

Love, Towards a Total Stranger

First, I’d like to say hello to all our friends this morning…you all are great!

First and foremost this morning, I’d like to share a bit of bad news.

We have a friend who wrote to me in regards to our finding out Deb had contracted breast cancer. The gentleman basically described to me that although we had never had prior contact, he too could feel my pain in regards to my wife being diagnosed with cancer.

A Tale, and the Garden

You know, up in Montana I heard about a grizzled ole guy, who still to this day roams the mountains, traps, and literally lives the life of a modern day “Mountain Man!”

It seems the ole’ guy was ridin’ along checking on his traps one morning, when his horse stumbled, throwing him out of the saddle.

The poor guy hit the ground, rolled over the edge of a cliff, and fell twenty feet onto another little ledge, which saved his life. If the little ledge hadn’t have been there the man would have fell down off that mountain…for a while!

Coyotes in Florida, and Looking as if Everywhere Else as Well:

Good morning to you all! We’d like to welcome you guys back to another Ridin’ Out the Recession in Miz Judi’s Kitchen! Thank you for stopping by this morning!

Well, I see Deb “busted my chops” pretty good yesterday in her article about me, and about men and their big mouths, or something to that effect. After reading that piece, I was beginning to wonder if maybe SHE was driving me to drink? In all honesty I’d have to say…no.

But, did I tell you guys about the time ole’ Deb….just kiddin’ around Deb! Plus…I know better!!

The Pressure Cooker Is Back

Good morning! The pressure cooker has re-emerged! After disappearing some months back, Deb and I heard a knock on the door this morning, opened it up, and there it stood…our pressure cooker!

The timing was amazing as we had squash, and string beans ready to can, and the tomatoes are going to be right behind!

After much hugging, and high fiving all around, we welcomed it back into our home, and I gotta tell ya’…the little feller hit the ground working.

Men, Their Big Mouths, and How To Keep Them Straight!

Good morning. I would like to welcome everyone back to Miz Judi’s Kitchen, and I hope this finds all happy and healthy. As for me, I am doing just fine.

We went and met with the surgeon this morning, and they have scheduled my surgery for next Wed. morning at 9:00 am. They’ll be doing a mastectomy, and also removing a lymph node from under my arm, both on my left side. We’re going to get started so we can start kicking some butt!

I would like to just thank all of you for your prayers, and support for me and my family. I cannot thank you enough, and keep them coming.
Now, on the lighter side…

Canning String Beans and Squash

I know that many, many of you out there home can and have been doing this for quite some time. For those of you who fall into this category, the recipes today will mean very little to you.

If you fall into the category though of not being a canner for very long, or maybe not ever, then this may be of some help.

Deb and I both love to can, and I think the food tastes so good upon opening the jar and warming it for supper. This type of storage has no need for refrigeration, but can literally sit on a shelf, four to five years with no problem. This statement is true, IF prepared safely and properly. Just keep it in a cool, dark spot.

Cattle at the Yeehaw Ranch

One thing Deb and I noticed immediately while on the Yeehaw Ranch was the shape the cows and calves were in. I’m telling you they all had plenty of weight and their coats were slick as glass.

Shane has been continually working out the older cows and replacing them each year with some of the better heifer calves they’ve been producing, and it’s really working out well on this place.

During the heat of the day, you could look into the tree lines around the cypress heads, or under big oaks out in the pasture, and they seemed to be laying everywhere. All were in just fine shape and were just really pretty calves.
