Going to Take a Day or Two Off

Good morning guys! How the heck are you today?

Well, Deb and I are headed down to the ranch and going to “charge our batteries!” If you good people were around ole Deb as much as I am…you’d need to recharge your batteries as well! Talking about a handful, shoot, I must be much tougher than I thought I was, just in regards to putting up with her ole aggravatin’ self.

Now I’m headed off into the woods with her for a couple days?? I have learned though, of a “secret weapon,” though if I’m gonna use it, I’ve got to be awful fast. Once she starts to open the door down there, I’m gonna jump her and put duct tape over her mouth!

Peace and quiet, yessir, that’s what I’ll be havin’ for the next couple days, just peace and quiet! I haven’t figured out just yet what I’m going to do, once I give that stuff a quick yank when I snatch it off of her, but…I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.

I’m thinking right now though that the good, will still outweigh the bad? We’ll see.

In our comment section is a comment from Cracker 1, I’m fixing to post it below now.

“Florida Crackers: The Cattlemen and Cowboys of Florida”, produced by the Self Discovery Production Team, is an 87-minute high quality documentary and the only feature-length movie about the Florida Cracker Cattle Culture produced by a man raised in the culture, who grew up as a working cowboy on a ranch near Fort Pierce, Florida.

Filmed in high definition format, this movie portrays this formerly unrecognized aspect of the beautiful state’s heritage – the real-life cattlemen and cowboys who are still working the land to this day.

Florida Crackers tells the story of this state’s little-known cattle culture, which dates back to 1521, when Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon landed in Florida and introduced the first cattle and horses to North America, thus setting the stage for the first American cowboys and cattle industry to be born.

Florida Crackers was filmed on some of the biggest and oldest ranches in Florida. One, the Adams Ranch of Fort Pierce, famous for creating the Braford cattle breed, received the 1999 Ranch of the Century award from the National Cattleman’s Beef Association.

Working with a small film crew and with minimal impact, with the Crackers telling their own story unscripted and in their own words, this movie creates an intimate style of documentary filming that is going to impact the film industry for years to come.

Filmed on several working ranches in Florida’s pristine cattle country, and including some of Florida’s best Cattlemen, Cowboys and Cowgirls, this one-of-a-kind film provides an exclusive inside view into the Florida Crackers lifestyle while also showcasing Florida’s unique natural environment and wildlife.

A few of the prominent figures featured in the movie are: Mr. Bud Adams, the Carlton Family, “Alligator” Ron Bergeron, Ms. Iris Wall, Mr. Pete Clemons and former State Agriculture Commissioner, Charles Bronson.

For the first time ever, there are more people living in cities than in the country, and this movie has an important message that many people around the World are waiting to hear, about the core values of the Cracker Culture, who are true stewards of not just the land, but of a way of life, where integrity, courage, honesty and respect are normal.

Since the release 2 weeks ago of the 1st limited run of “Florida Crackers” on DVD, people are giving rave reviews! Everybody loves this movie! It is the history of how the cattle industry started in Florida & the day-to-day life of today’s Cattlemen and Cowboys, our Heroes.

As I’d mentioned last week we were going to start discussing some of the agricultural interests here in our State. I received this outta’ the blue shortly after the article, “The Sunshine State: It Ain’t Just About Tourism, “and just want to say to thank you to Cracker 1 for sending this.

This is a documentary film, just made, that talks about the cattle industry in our State. It covers most everything, and introduces you to many ranchers and their families. Most have lived this lifestyle for generations, and are a true portrait of the Florida Cowboy, or the “Florida Cracker.”

The name “Cracker,” is believed to have derived from the first cowboys, or drovers in our State. This is because of the cowboys popping or cracking their whips, driving the cattle. Thus, the title of a “Florida Cracker,” was born.

There are a number of “trailers” you can click on and see. Please check these out, and visit these Florida ranches. The filming is tremendous, and the beauty of our State, is literally overwhelming. Take a few minutes and see for yourself Florida, from an entirely different perspective than what so many of you envision when our State is mentioned.

The beaches and our tourist industries are vital to our economy too, but now you can see our State and its true beginnings first hand. For example, did you know that Florida was the first State to raise cattle, and was home to the first North American Cowboy? This is true.

This movie shows the examples of what this type of living instills in the people involved in it. Honesty, integrity, values, and a work ethic are all part of these traits.

You’ll hear one ranch owner talking about they may have a business dealing worth over several hundreds of thousands of dollars, still done…with a handshake! This simply being enough, and is the true meaning of, your word is your bond!

Look at their children, and see that they’re brought up involved in, and around work. In today’s world, too many times using, or allowing children to work is frowned upon, shoot, literally looked down upon. This point of view I consider insanity.

What better way to raise your child than for them being taught a work ethic? It also instills respect, and to treat people as you’d like to be treated. It too teaches in order to have something, you first must earn it. Nothing in life is given, but once more, this today is not how our government looks at it.

Look no further than the welfare state our Country has become, and the class of citizen it produces. It is sickening to me, personally.
I know how I was raised, and I know how our children have been raised, and all have turned out well.

These little fellers in this movie are cut from the same mold. Through these types of teachings, and upbringings, children just such as these, have always been the backbone of our Country’s ability to be the best of the best!

I trying my derndest not to become too politically incorrect here this morning, but probably have already put my foot in my mouth. This is not my intention. So with that said, please take a look at this film. Then look back upon your own childhoods and stop and think…why have we let our government become so involved in so many facets of our lives today? Even to the point of trying to tell us of how to raise our own children? There I go once more. It’s just hard for me to keep something bottled up inside.

With that little burst off my chest this morning, I really, really believe that most every one of you will enjoy watching this!

You guys all have a great day, and thank you so much for stopping back by to see us!

God Bless, and see you in a day or two!
