Family, Friends and Loving Prayers

Hello all, and thank you for visiting again! Welcome back to Ridin’ Out the Recession, in Miz Judi’s Kitchen.

First off, I’d like to tell you all, that honestly, your responses in regards to Deb have been simply overwhelming to us both! As her husband, I can’t tell you how it makes me feel to see the concern, and love you have for my wife! I’m so proud of her, but you guys are just too much!!

I can’t put into words how to even begin expressing my thanks to each and every one of you. It’s beyond my capacity to try. Just know this…we love you guys from the bottom of our hearts, and from your kind words we now know that possibly we were supposed to enter into your lives through this column.

I’m so grateful to Judi and Brian, and all the help and support they give, and also for Judi telling me, Dub, you should do this! For you guys to think enough of our musings to read them, is one thing and is heartwarming to Deb and I both.

But for you guys to come to know us for the last couple of months only, and show us this tremendous concern for what is going on in our lives right at this moment, is a testimony to your own character, and this statement is meant as the greatest compliment I’m capable of handing out!

We could never ask for, or expect any greater friends than what you have become to us. It wasn’t through lip service either. It was through the action of taking pen and paper in hand, stopping what you were doing, and penning to us your heartfelt sympathy for my wife’s well- being. I can never thank you enough!

You guys have shared with us your own heartbreak, past and present, and you are now in our prayers as well! We’ve learned in just the last couple of days that so many of you are experiencing much more difficult life decisions that are facing Deb and I. Please understand we hurt with you, but God is there for us!

Gerry and Eleanor, please know that you may feel free to contact us, day or night, and God loves you both. What a tremendous message you had for me, Gerry, and to do so facing what you two are facing is truly an act of such great kindness it still touches me to my core! We love you guys so much!

This message now goes out to all of you, but I have to ask that you put Gerry and Eleanor in your prayers too, they both deserve and need them. But not only them, but to all our friends, we love and care for each one of you, and please understand, if any of you need Deb or I…you only have to contact us, and to you as well, day or night!

Let me say once more how much you all have meant to us. What a wonderful feeling to know so many care. We never try to put on, or attempt to be someone we’re not, and with this being the case, it tells Deb and I both, that we’re loved…simply for being us! You could have given us no greater compliment than that! Thank you all!

I think Deb will talk to you guys a little later in the week in regards of what you have all meant to her, and she wants to thank you herself. She, too has come to love you all.

As far as me, I think I’ve said enough for now. I will though contact, or better yet, we’ll contact each and every one of you personally for your responses. We owe it to you guys, but even more so…WE WANT TO!

Quickly, we took this weekend, and did just exactly what we wanted to. We worked in the garden some, and basically just kinda’ hung out and talked. It was very enjoyable after such a hectic week, and another one coming up this week.

I tried to get her to go out…nope. I tried to take her out to supper…nope. She said she’d rather spend the time with me, and just talk and laugh. Well, to an ole tight-wad like me…this was simply “music to my ears!”

No, she had her “druthers,” and this weekend she wanted us to be together…dern, “I still got it!”

Today though, our two sons and their kids came and took her to lunch. I stayed home because I wanted this lunch to be special for her and the kids and grandkids, and after listening to her talk about it after getting back home…I believe it was just that! I was so glad! (Plus…I took a nap!)

One of our friends from North Carolina, Bonnie, dropped us a poem today that she’d written.

You all know Bonnie, the “Master Canner,” and master gardener, and master chef, and master hide tanner, and son-of-a-gun if she ain’t a master poet as well!
Now you’ve read Bonnie’s articles before, and she’s one great lady, just like so many of you are!

Anyway, Bonnie sent this to Deb and I today. She had no idea of anything going on with Deb, just sent it to us out of the blue! I was so very impressed with it, I thought you all might like to share this. I asked Bonnie if it’d be okay to share it, and we got a thumbs up!

Thank you so much Bonnie!

RESURRECTION

The sun, now slowly peeking from the hills across the way,
Begins the resurrection of another glorious day.
The buds upon the dogwood tree, will lovely blossoms bring;
This is the resurrection of the season we call spring.
We resurrect old memories that dwell within our hearts,
To once again relive the joy, that someone did impart.
I ask you now to focus, on the journey of your life,
And recall the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

For only through His sacrifice, and trusting in His love,
Might we all someday dwell with Him, in Heaven, up above.
In tears of agony and love, He died upon the cross;
To grant to us another chance, to save our souls from loss!
Through resurrection of His son, God showed us there’s a plan,
For righteous spirits to go “Home”, and dwell in Heaven’s Land.
But those who follow Satan, and let HIM pay their bail,
Will never know the joy of life, beyond this earthly veil.

He asks of us so little, as we journey through this land;
But just to keep Him in your heart, and He will hold your hand.
Apply each day, the Golden Rule, to all your friends and neighbors,
And, ask through prayer, that God will guide you, in your earthly labors.
The Savior’s Resurrection, was a promise from our Lord,
That must not be neglected; nor can it be ignored.
If we would one day, all go Home, to dwell in Heaven’s light,
Then we must live our lives for God, and keep that Home in sight.

Written (rather quickly), by Bonnie ……….. …………, April 10, 1998
Wasn’t that great? Deb and I loved it.

Thank you all so much again, and please come back to visit with us. We think the world of you guys! Thanks once more for your thoughts and prayers, and may God Bless you all!!
