Good morning all. How is everybody today? Deb and I have been great. Man…low 50’s down here the last couple nights! Feels GOOD!

The wind though blew the squash around pretty good. We lost two, just broke em off at the ground, but surprisingly we have maybe 3-4 more that need a couple broken stems cut out, and I believe the rest weathered pretty well.

Watching those things blow around brought back memories of my killing those 50 + plants to get our growin season off to a great start! LOL!

I was talking to our good friends, Bill and Sandy, from Mobile Alabama, who by the way are… “Auburn Tiger” fans (hee-hee-hee Sandy), and she’d sent us some pictures of what’s goin on gardenin wise up in their “neck of the woods.”

Their garden was looking great, and I believe Sandy said they’d just brought in 50# of potatoes! They, like us, love piddlin around in a garden.

Both these guys have green thumbs. The proof in the pudding of their having green thumbs was evidenced to me last year. I called them in January, it was about 15 degrees out up there and I ask, “Sandy, where’s Bill?” Her answer, “Oh…he’s out in the garden pickin some tomatoes.”

“???? 15 degrees and Bill’s in the garden picking fresh tomatoes???”

Sandy’s like, “Yeah, he’s been a little disappointed with em though…he don’t think they’ve done quite right.”

“Okay…”

I have to tell you guys, although I hate to, they’re actually Alabama Crimson Tide fans. Gotcha Sandy! Roll Tide!

Anyway, I’ve got about three videos for you guys to look at if you’d like. One is our other garden we’d just prepped for planting, and one is of the greenhouse and grow area. Honestly, all these plants are doing well. We’re pleased.

The last video, which in reality will be the first was sent to us by a friend, this being Wayne, from Alma, Georgia.

Wayne’s a sport-model in his own right, and that scoundrel grows some great blueberries, but he’s pretty stingy with the dern things.

L:ast year as an example he told Debbie and I he’d send us down some blueberries by my brother, and he did. TWO! When I called he told me, “Shoot, that’s one apiece!” LOL!

Here Wayne’s video…

Not a bad idea actually, huh? If I still drank, I’d be takin a ride up to Ace Hardware!

The next is of our garden are we just prepped, followed by the grow area. Hope you enjoy them!

Good morning to you all! We sure hope today finds you all in good health, and a good frame of mind. As for me, I’m still catchin a little flak over those dern tomatoes and cucumbers that died, OR, as Deb puts it…I killed!

Evidently she’s getting over it now though. We passed each other today, and for the first time in over a week…she didn’t take a swing at me! Things are indeed, lookin up! Life is good!

We did get the micro-jet hooked up in the greenhouse, and man is that going to make things a little easier. Hopin next week we can get it in the grow areas and get the power tied in. We’ve always had to move sprinklers and drag water hoses, so this will be a really good change, plus you can cover more ground much quicker too!

We fired it off for the first time, watched those muthas spray, and good night a livin, how easy is that? I was pretty set on a drip system, but decided against it. I know this could cause some plant disease, but with a few tweaks, and lifting some of the plant growth up, especially the tomatoes, I don’t think it’ll be a problem. We’ll see.

If so, well ole Deb will be mad at me once again. It’s literally become just a cycle we go through around here. I screw up, Deb gets mad with me, and after a few days, weeks, months or years, she’s over it. The time frame just depends on HOW BAD I screwed up! I can understand that. LOL!

Well, I’ve also started “hardening up,” our new plants. Again, I didn’t know that when setting plants out, that if they’d been grown in a greenhouse, you had to set them out a few hours a day to let them adjust to full sun, or “harden up.”

Good night, it was kinda depressing to find out that I didn’t know…a whole lot! LOL! But, I’m learning, and more than willing to learn more. So again, if you’d like to see ways of how NOT to do things, shoot, just c’mon down and hang out with me a few days…that’ll be all you need! You’ll be an old pro in no time at all!

We did pick up a couple more greenhouses, but these may have to sit under the barn for a while yet. Our money, like a lot of you I’m sure has gotten pretty tight. Plus, we’re not sure what tomorrow brings anymore in regards to our elected leaders, huh?

Looks to me like if the President declares we’re goin to “spend our way outta debt,” then that oughta be just fine for us to do as well. I mean, they have a printin press, right? Well, how come we can’t all have one too?

If they’d let that happen, and the way they spend our money it ought to be MANDATORY they do, then I got a feelin we’d turn this economy around in no time. On top of that, if I could print my own money, then I’d probably feel much less aggravated about giving away what I’ve had to work so hard for to someone who’s never worked a day in their lives! Though I may at that point just buy em all a ticket with my “new and shiny, printed money,” and fly em on outta here!

Then they wouldn’t have to keep hangin around in a Country that they despise so much.

We could then keep our work ethic, our values, our freedoms and liberties, our integrity, our RELIGION, and our word again be, our bond! Imagine that…at that point we might just have elected leaders who may even have those same traits!

Come to think of it, we need to demand a few of those printers, don’t we? After all, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander, right? I think so.

Anyway, why don’t we take a look at some of the things we have goin on in the green house, then, let’s fire off a dern cook stove! Today’s lookin like it might be a good day for those who just might like a sweet every now and again.

Good morning. Well, how’s everybody today? We hope all are doing well and thanks for stopping back by.

I know you guys are probably tired of hearing it, but that dern Deb’s a slave driver, and she’s hit her full potential of bein one too! I get through with one project and shoot she’s lined us up with another. No rest for the weary!

All joking aside, I’m happy to oblige her. I’m so happy she’s doing so well that there isn’t too much she could ask me that I wouldn’t do for her. The main one that does come to mind though, is… “Honey, can I see your credit card?” Ah, not really Deb, for some reason I just can’t seem to locate it at the moment??

Anyway, I’m very proud of her, what a woman. God surely smiles on us.

Quickly, let me thank you guys for your prayers in regards to our good friend Bob, and his wife Linda. They were well received and appreciated. You all are great. It looks as though Bob is having a rough go. Linda told us yesterday that they now think he’ll not last until Monday.

No one knows but our maker, and if it is his time, he’ll take him home when he’s ready for Bob to come home. I tell you, it still amazes me the speed this has taken place. Our prayers are with him and his family too, and thank ya’ll for yours once more!

Well, we’re still tryin to get the greenhouse squared away. I know that this pace will slow down to an extent, but good night a livin, between this, our regular chores, and everything else, PHEW, my big ole rear-end has been tired come black dark!

Honestly though we’re accomplishing quite a bit. We put down mulch in the walkways of the greenhouse, and brought a walkway all the way to the house with it. Although we didn’t take the time, or the effort to put up some type of containment for the mulch, we just had to go ahead and put it down.

Not so much in the greenhouse, although it gets really dusty in there, but the walkway to the house. We were RUINING our side porch with…black dirt! We were tracking that mess like there was no tomorrow. I’ve washed my dern feet under the water hose till I’ve bout scrubbed the bottoms off of em!

So the mulch walkway just had to happen! That, or Deb was talking bout runnin me off! It’s kinda funny to me though, that her dirty feet didn’t seem to bother her as bad as mine seemed to. She kept mumbling something about hers not being as big as mine??

We also hand dug a trench from the house to the greenhouse. We have now run our water and power lines out there. We’ve not hooked up either one as of this moment, but Elmo and I might run some tomorrow.

Our good friend Billy will connect all our outlets and fans for us. Ole Dub don’t screw with any electricity. Shoot, I really wasn’t wanting to pull the wire into our breaker box, but did anyway. That was a sight to behold, I’m sure.

My two biggest fears…electricity, and spiders! Not countin Deb of course!

We set out some cucumbers and tomatoes that we’d grew from seed. It won’t be long we’ll be setting out quite a bit more. We have radishes, romaine lettuce, onions, eggplant, tomatoes, okra, and beets growing in the greenhouse, plus fixing to fill our seed trays again.

Gonna try out Atomic Red carrots which are supposed to be high in Lycopene, a cancer preventative from what we read. Deb and I both have really become firm believers in good, healthy food. The fresher the better, hence…the greenhouse!

Well, why don’t I stop runnin off at the mouth so much, and we’ll look at a few pictures we took today. After that, let’s take a little time and crack a smile or two at some of the e-mails we’d gotten the past few days. Laughter IS the best medicine!

And…we’re off!

First off though, I’d like to share something with you guys. You may have seen this before, and it may happen all over the Country, though I’m not aware of it if it does.

Right before Easter, the pines down here start busting out with little crosses on them, some absolutely perfect. It’s where the new needles are forming, I believe. This amazes Deb and I every year!

Here’s the greenhouse after we mulched it.

The next two are some of our tomatoes we’re growing off from seed.

The last two are of our watermelons we grew off and are fixing to plant in the garden, and then our romaine lettuce and onions.

That’s some of what’s going on…now, a little humor!

These come from Diane, in Virginia. Diane as you might notice is quite the card too, and fits right into our philosophy of…ya gotta laugh! She might as well be family, and actually is considered such! We appreciate everything she sends, and sometimes turn the tables on her and send some back her way! Turn about…is fair play!

WOMEN’S REVENGE

‘Cash, check or charge?’ I asked, after folding items the woman wished to purchase.

As she fumbled for her wallet, I noticed a remote control for a television set in her purse.

‘So, do you always carry your TV remote?’ I asked.

‘No,’ she replied, ‘but my husband refused to come shopping with me, and I figured this was the most evil thing I could do to him legally.’

WIFE, VERSUS HUSBAND

A couple drove down a country road for several miles, not saying a word.

An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to concede their position.

As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats, and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically, ‘Relatives of yours?’

‘Yep,’ the wife replied, ‘in-laws.’

CREATION

A man said to his wife one day, ‘I don’t know how you can be so stupid and so beautiful all at the same time…

‘The wife responded, ‘Allow me to explain…

God made me beautiful so you would be attracted to me; God made me stupid so I would be attracted to you!

The last today comes from our sister-in-law Patty, who is my brother’s wife…is a nut!! LOL! It’s about a lost dog, for all you pet owners out there.

Lost Dog

You guys have a great day, and God bless! Deb says for you all to keep a smile on your face, and one in your heart!

Good morning guys, how is everybody today? We sure hope all goes well for each and every one of you! We’re back once more in ole Miz Judi’s Kitchen and gonna see what we can come up with for ya’ll today! So grab a chair, have a seat, and let’s shoot the bull for a while.

First off…we got the outside of our greenhouse finished yesterday…YES! Man we’re so proud we’ve finally got it “buttoned up,” and this is gonna be a WHOLE lotta fun! I have to admit that there’s nothing more fun to me…than watchin Deb work! I could literally watch it for hours on end! LOL!

I used to be of the belief that Deb could be doing one thing, while I was on another project, and for most of our lives that was the case. Deb would handle the “homefront,” while I’d be out tryin to make us a livin. It worked really well.

Then, the day came that ole Red grabbed ahold in our business, and became an integral part of it. The man can work. Honestly, he’s a dern “workin Trojan,” and if one of the crew ain’t pullin his weight, shoot, ole Red will send em packin, and if the need be, will carry their weight on the job too. On top of this, all our customers love the guy.

He’s a great young man, a great Father, a HARD worker, and is full of it in regards to his personality…must come from his Mama, huh?

But to him not listenin to any flak on the job, and not toleratin poor performance with his crew, this has it’s not so good points as well. Why? Well, about 4 years ago he fired one of the employees that had been with us over 14 years…ME???

The man told me he could get more work done, with less hassle, if I’d take an “early retirement!” I was shell-shocked! I tried to argue with him for all of about 15 seconds or so, then saw that no matter how hard I tried to convince him he still needed “the old man,” I gave up.

I just hung my head, and acted very despondent over his decision while walking off. Yet, the whole time this was bein played out, my inner self was sayin, “YES!! God Bless him for his actions!! LOL!

So, after “suckerin ole Red” into runnin me off, I wouldn’t talk to him for quite a while….maybe 30 minutes or so. At that point I called him on the jobsite and told him that I’d not let his firin me interfere with the rest of our lives together…explained to him that I “was a bigger man” than that! LOL!

So, by Red firin “the old man,” this allowed Deb and I PLENTY of time together. You see, Deb and Red have always had a very, very close relationship, but after about two weeks of “my retirement,” she realized that havin me home with her 24-7 wasn’t what she thought it’d be cut out to be.

To this day, I’m not so sure if Deb has ever forgiven him…for “letting me go!”

Quickly, back to the point I was makin earlier in regards to Deb and I both bein on separate projects at the same time, well, my attitude over that statement has changed. Since having more time to spend around her, I’ve decided that although we don’t get quite as much done, it is actually better if we work on a project…together.

By doin so, this assures that by doing things in this fashion, I can share my VAST knowledge and intellect with her. This also insures that through my sittin around watchin her, and pointin out the ways “that I’d do it,” she in fact does a better job at what SHE’S doin. You could say that now we get it right…the first time, every time! LOL!

So you see, I’m not the type of man to keep the better ways of doing things all to myself. I like to share with Deb anyway I can…to help her out, you understand! What better way could there be…to show your love towards your spouse??

So all you other women out there, don’t be too despondent that your own husband may not treat you in quite the same manner. You need to try and come to grips…that ole Deb, just got lucky I guess!! LOL!

Before we fire off the dern cook stove this morning, we’d like to share a video with you guys. Be sure and listen to the story of my little dog…Skipper! I sure miss the little feller, and at one point durin the video…I almost broke down!

Good morning guys! We hope all are fine today, and getting ready to have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping back by!

Well, we FINALLY got a little time to start on the greenhouse, and spent the last day and a half working on it. It goes up very easily, BUT, we have no plans to go by, oh shoot, we sure did…they were a scratched out system of notes…on the back of…a matchbox!! LOL!!

They might as well of been written in hieroglyphics in regards to my being able to figure them out! We’ve never put one up before, so as far as myself, or the crew, we didn’t have a clue! Luckily though, my ole buddy, Billy, has done this for years, and to that joker…this is a snap!

Honestly, I don’t know if he’s been down here enjoyin the company while helpin us out, or he’s just enjoyin bein around a bunch a dummies?? LOL!

He keeps sayin, “C’mon guys, it’s just like putting a puzzle together!” We’re like… “We cain’t even spell puzzle, Billy!”

This reminds me of a “blonde joke,” but it’s very pertinent in regards to our greenhouse building, AND those dern blondes (all ya’ll blondes know I’m just pickin on you, right?).

Here goes…

Two blondes go to town and get em a picture puzzle. After spending a year or better, day and night in its completion, one looks over at the other one and says, “Can you believe how well we’ve done with this?”

The other blonde goes, “Yeah, it’s really pretty, and it’s been great spending time with you doin it, but is there really a reason why you’re so ecstatic over its completion?”

To which the other blonde says, “Duh, are you kiddin me?? We did it in 12 to 13 months, the box it came in clearly states…2 to 4 years!”

Well, that’s us!

So, ole Billy is the cog that’s makin this wheel turn, no doubt! You gotta watch him though, he’ll sure have you doin something that MAY not be quite “just right,” then the dern guy starts laughin and asking you what in the world you’re doing??

We may possibly finish the frame today, we’ll just have to see how it goes. Billy won’t be here today, BUT, I think he’s got us to the point when he comes back, it’ll at least be…right side up! LOL!
Actually it is pretty simple, but…so are we! LOL! No, now we do have an understanding of how it goes together, and today should be productive. Time will tell, huh?

You guys know that the main reason for the greenhouse is to keep Deb and I in fresh juice. We have become firm believers in the benefits of this. So by having the greenhouse, this will enable us to keep fresh vegetables, and a few fruits comin in year round.

All jokes aside, to keep Deb in fresh juice, it costs us around $110 to $120 dollars…a week! That’s quite a lot, but when lookin at Deb and how well she’s doin, it ain’t nothing but a thang! You cain’t put a price on your health…not in my book anyway!

Here’s a shot of what we juice daily. Some days we add more, some days a little less…but normally 20 to 25 different fruits and vegetables, daily…

When I’d first met ole Deb, I PROBABLY wouldn’t have dropped that kind a money on her, weekly, but shoot, through the years…dang if she ain’t kinda “grown on me!” LOL!

Plus, when we get this mess whipped, she’ll pay me back…WITH INTEREST!! LOL!

On top of this, we both love piddlin around growin things. We both can’t wait to get this thing up, and operating.

Here’s a few more pictures…the first is of the turkey’s havin breakfast. Yeah, as bad as I hate to admit it, they ARE on an entitlement program! LOL!

The next pictures are of the greenhouse construction. It is comin along pretty good. It’s a 18’x60’. The last picture is of the little girl…Cheyenne. She normally helps me feed up in the mornings, but it was low 40’s this morning, and she’s like…go ahead! I’ll watch ya!

Here’s a video we did…

You guys have a great day, and God Bless! Deb says to tell ya’ll… “Keep a smile on your face, and one in your heart!

Good morning to ya’ll, and thanks for droppin back in. After our little cold snap, we’ll be back to lows in the 50’s for what looks like, all of next week. Good stuff!

Yeah, we started the greenhouse yesterday, but in all honesty, I kinda “yanked your chain.” We DID start it, but only set 6 posts. Wasn’t what I’d call a very productive day, huh? Not normally anyway. But actually I was glad we got those 6 set.

We’ve never put up a greenhouse number one, and there is no plans. BUT, the greenhouse was used, so everything has to go back exactly like it was. Problem is, we don’t know anything about the dern things, and surely not how anything goes!

But, our good friend Billy, has installed these things most of his life, and it’s all second nature to him. He was good enough yesterday to come out, square the building, and set the two corners on each end, and the two center posts down the sides.

By doing this, now all we’ll do is set the remaining 20 posts, 5 feet apart. We’ll run two string-lines on each side, one down low to show where our holes need to be dug, then one marked 35-3/4 inches down from the top of the posts. This will give us the remaining height of the other posts we’re setting. All set in concrete.

So, we at least know what we’ll be doing up until then. Our problem is time to get back to the greenhouse construction.

First, Red still has about 4 jobs to finish, maybe a couple nights worth, and we’re using the crew as well, because we’re painting the inside of the house. We then have to pressure wash the outside, decide if we’ll paint it or not, but we probably will.

So, we’ve got to finish this up prior to getting back on the greenhouse. Man, I’d like to get it done, but we need to finish these other projects first.

This is because we’re havin a big blowout here on the 21st. You guys know that Deb has done really well in regards to her cancer, and we’re throwing this cookout in her honor. We expect a hundred or so. If any of you guys live close enough and would like to come…then c’mon! The more the merrier!

We’re looking forward to this, and Deb really deserves it as well. She has worked so hard with these alternatives, and everything else, so really, it’s the least I could do for her!

My cousin, Vince, will be doin the catering for us. This guy wins all kinds of barbeque cook-offs, and his ribs and Boston butts are outstanding. Deb loves his cookin! I tell ya though, ole Deb has always said Cuz is the “best-lookin” Bronson around, so to be honest, I ain’t so sure if in reality its Vince’s cookin that Deb likes so good, or…her lookin, while he’s cookin!! LOL! I think??

Naw, Cuz is a great guy, a lot of fun to be around, and the joker can put out some very good food!

So, that’s the story of our greenhouse, and where we’re at in its completion. Hopefully, in between these other projects, we can get some other things done to it.

Okay, I’ve told you about our friends we’ve met since startin doin the YouTube videos. They, just like you guys, are just great people. They share some really good info, and are just tickled to do so. So let’s take a look at a few this morning. I believe you guys will enjoy them. We always do!

The first one this morning is from our good friend Bobby, in Virginia. Bobby, as I’ve told you guys before is a working Trojan! He also is a very good Christian, young man. Bobby has been blessed, and is a firm believer in creating blessing himself…by giving away much that he produces!

In this video, Bobby had just built a new greenhouse and was showing his new heater system setup. I’m convinced that this is the same setup we’ll use here in ours as well.
Like Bobby says though, “Dub, your problem in Florida is going to be heat, not cold, like here where we’re at.”

He’s right on the money with this statement, but there will be times, like these past two nights we just experienced, a 24, and a 27. So, at times, we will need a heat source. Just NO where near as much as Bobby!

Check him out! Again, a very knowledgeable young man. So give him your ear…he knows what he’s talkin about!!

He’s got it lookin good, huh? Bobby’s a great guy…I just ain’t figured out how his wife tolerates him!! LOL!

This next video is of Bobby putting plastic on his new greenhouse. For those who don’t realize it, the reasoning for double plastic, is insulation. You then install a small blower, it fills between the two plastic sheets with air, and this creates an air buffer. This helps keeping your temps where you’d like to see them.

The guys a worker, is he not?

This next video comes from Diane Mumm. The last video we showed of Diane’s was of her pentas.

Diane is one great lady, and very knowledgeable also. We really liked this video of hers. Honestly, with her scenery, and the music playing in the background, we found this to actually be soothing.
Here’s her description of it…

“In this video I show the importance of letting your ornamental grasses stand until Spring. Fall and winter interest in the garden provides not only beauty but protection for your birds and wildlife animals.”

Wasn’t that just a great video? Again, Deb and I loved it!

This next video from Diane is showing us the four season changes experienced where they live, which is Iowa. We really enjoyed this video as well. Diane does a great job!

This is her description…

“I love taking photos of all the changes that happen during the 4 seasons in Iowa. There is way more beauty around than most even see in their busy lives.”

Diane and I have talked previously about people becoming so busy in their lives that they don’t…stop and smell the roses. When that becomes the case, the above video is but one example of what you miss that nature supplies you with daily.

So please, just take a look around at the wonders our Good Lord puts there for us to enjoy. You only have to slow down…and take a peek!

Now our next video we’ll share is from Joe. I believe Joe is from upstate New York.

Joe, we’ve just started getting to know, but he has some great videos. There’s SO many out there, that it’s hard to run across them all. But, somehow or other, we ran across each other. I’m glad we did.

This video is Joe showing his firewood supply. The man has CUT some wood. So obviously, Joe is a hard workin guy as well. We love his place…check him out!

Isn’t his place beautiful?

Well, we’ll let that do it for today! We wish you guys the very best in all things! Take care, and God Bless! Deb says, “Keep a smile on your face, and one in your heart!

Dub and Deb
