Well now...how the heck are you our good friend "Mountain Gal?" It's great hearin from you! I know, you and Steve are just like Deb and I...BUSY! Where does the dern time go anymore Bonnie? I swear it's Monday, then it's Friday...then before you know it, another year has come and gone.

YES Ma'am, I love fried grits. We put some up (grits, but not fried. Ha-ha). Good, cheap, fillin meal, and they'll work great if this dern economy keeps tankin! I try to store a lot of foods that Deb doesn't eat. Most think it's because I'm lookin out for ole number 1, BUT, that's the furthest from the truth!! I'm only tryin to help her "watch her figure!!" LOL!

We sure hope you guys are doing outstanding, and Deb says to tell you guys hello! Shoot, that's more than I ever get outta her, cept a HARD time!Again Bonnie, it sure was nice hearing from ya'll! If you would, please tell Denny and Mecca we said hello, and we think about them! Has he retired yet? Also, send his phone number again if you'd be so kind, I lost the dern thing, and would love to speak to them!

Uh, Dub..........when you have grown the sugar cane, cut it, stripped the fodder, put it through the mill for juice and then boiled the juice down to make genuine homemade cane syrup, it's pretty durned good on anything and that includes fried grits! I do love the fried grits, also. I have sometimes cut them into squares, dipped them in an egg wash and then into bread crumbs and then fried them. Good like that or even to go a step further and put a slice of cheddar on top of them after frying and stick them in a hot oven just as the biscuits come out to let the cheese melt a little. Yummy!
Hope you guys are doing well and Debbie, keep on keepin' on gettin' better, and don't you let ol' Dub get in your way! By the way, Dub...........................make it strong coffee for the redeye gravy and it's even good just poured over a fresh, hot biscuit! Getting ready for hard(er) times to hit, as they are surely coming. Pray for our nation!

What's up, Mississippi?

A fairy tale about grits?? Dern Sandra, I'd a let em just miss out on the dern things!! LOL! More fo' me and Deb!Cute tale though! What's the weather like...it's lookin kinda like you guys may be gettin a little cool out there. We had ice on our roof this morning, but no frost in the yard. But this is our first pretty cool weather we've had. We've been a little concerned on account of the orange trees.

We've had no cool weather enough to get these trees into a dormant state. When that happens, and the trees still tryin to grow, man, if you get a hard freeze then, it can do tons of damage. So this cool snap we were needing in that regard.

Sandra, we hope you guys are all doing fine, and Happy New Years to ya! Also tell Sumo we were going to come see him, but I got to thinkin about tellin him I'd "rassle" him, and then you got to tellin me how BIG he was gettin...so shoot, we got as far as Pensacola, and I figured I'd better turn around and c'mon home!! LOL!!

Sandra, you guys take care, and God Bless!

Merry Post Christmas everyone. I am with D&D it was a good'un.
Grits. Hate to mention that I also toy with our Northern Brethern about grits.
In the mornings when I put the grits out for breafast, folks from the North always,
always went "what's that"? After hearing this so many times and not wanting to go through the corn and grist mill route again I made up a story. Being of Irish descent,
fairies and leprechans took over. Living next to the great Mississippi River with it's
many levees I made up a story. And this is it.
"I get up every morning predawn, when the dew is heaviest on the on the ground and
the stars are shining brightly and and climb the levee with my little croaker sack.
I search among the dew drops and the clover for a little jewel called a grit. A precious edible in our area and adored by many. It takes a long time to harvest these little jewels and I if I am industrious my little sack will hold "grits". I am usually done by just before breakfast so they may be cooked lovingly for all to partake."
Now you might think this is dumb, but the folks that did not know of grits liked
this story much better than the corn gristmill story.
When I am tired and weary and can't make it to the levee I use Jim Dandy or
Quaker brand. Happy New year everyone.

I confess to breaking the 6th commandment once, eating "instant grits". It is a very grave sin, one I heartily regret.
